* Mary Ann Willis (1821 - 1863)
* Believed to have been born in 1821, Mary Ann was the youngest child of Edward and Elizabeth.
* Mary married Gilbert Pledge, a widower, on 20 April 1843 in the parish church of Frindsbury,
* After their marriage the couple settled in Chatham, where their four children were born;
* Margaret in 1845,
* Gilbert Edward in 1845 (died in 1846),
* George William in 1847
* Edward Gilbert in 1848.
* Gilbert is thought to have died in the summer of 1851
* In 1861 Mary Ann is living in Richard Street, Chatham, most likely in the property bequeathed to her by her father.
* In 1861 widowed Mary is employed as a Housekeeper, whilst her daughter Mary is a Dressmaker, George is a Shop Boy, and Gilbert a Rope House Boy at Chatham Dockyard.
* Mary Ann is believed to have died in the early spring of 1863, about the same time as her daughter, Mary Ann married.
* By 1871 Edward is employed as a Captains Steward on board HMS Plover. Later that year he married Alice Waghorn in Portsea. In 1881 he is serving as a Ward Room Steward 1st Class on HMS Crocodile, whilst his wife and two daughters are living in Portsea.
* By 1871 George had by now moved to Sheffield, where he had married Ellen Roberts in the summer of 1877.
* Mary Ann is thought to have died in the March quarter of 1863.
* Edward Gilbert died in the early winter of 1904.
