| Notes for biography |
* Straight after their wedding, they were shipped (as convicts) to Norfolk Island on the HMS Sirius. The ship ran aground on a reef at Norfolk Island on March 19, 1790.
* Andrew (snr) and Lydia (snr) and most of the younger siblings arrived in Hobart from Norfolk Islands about 1806 (ie before Andrew jnr was born).
|
| Notes for biography |
Convict: Andrew was convicted of stealing 200 pounds of lead in the Old Bailey on 7th July 1784 and sentenced to 7 years transportation (ref : Mundia, simpkins_famhist). Transported with the 'First Fleet' on the Scarborough in 1788 (ref : claimaconvict website). |
| Notes for biography |
PARENTS:
* Some sources (which ones?) have Andrew's parents as Samuel Goodwin (1747 to 1777) and Mary Walker (1752 to 1840) (Note by Don Gordon on 10th July 2018: If these birthyears (1747 & 1752) are correct and if it is correct that Andrew was born in 1764, then Samuel and Mary were probably not his parents because they would have been about 17 years and 12 years old when Andrew was born)
* However, in an email to Don Gordon on 9th July 2018, Carol Brill and Malcolm Brown, concluded that Andrew's parents were William Goodwin and Margaret Hood. This was based on baptismal records, details about his brother (Edward), 'Censor' hulk records and DNA.
* Further research is required for all this. |
