Notes for biography John was born 1769 in Morchard Bishop and died at 43 years old in 1812 the same village. Morchard Bishop is a small village near Dartmore and Exeter in Devonshire. "He was a probably a small tenant farmer for he had been able to pay for the education of his two sons older than James, had had to pay the church tithes of one-tenth of his produce, and owned a horse. .... He and his family were members of the Church of England, but it does not appear that either he or his wife or his two older sons took any practical interest in religion. He died whilst still in the prime of his life, when James was about fourteen, leaving little or nothing to is widow and children, but James's elder brothers were then grown-up and no doubt maintained their mother and their younger brother in the family home after the father's death." (ref : Hannan, p 2)

Children of the marriage Children :
    * Hannan (ref: p 2) indicated that James had two older brothers but this may not be the case.
    * This looks like it there were two sets of twins - Christian1/Abraham and Amelia/Ann
    * One child of each of both sets of twins died early - that is Christian1 and Ann died early - because younger siblings (Christian2 & Anne2) might have been named after an older sibling who had recently died.
